Originally built as a fort in the 12th century, it later became a noble residence under the Stibor family. Today, the castle hosts various seasonal events and exhibitions, and the views from its walls overlooking the river and rolling hills evoke a timeless atmosphere. Continue to Trenčín Castle, the region’s crowning jewel and one of Slovakia’s largest fortresses. Dominating the town of Trenčín, the castle features courtyards, a museum, a Gothic chapel, and the iconic Matúš Tower, once home to the powerful medieval nobleman Matúš Čák. Inside, explore exhibits showcasing medieval life, armor, and local legends. From the top, take in stunning vistas of the Váh River and the town below. Leave the castles behind for the charming village of Čičmany, renowned for its traditional wooden houses adorned with white geometric patterns.
