Description
Meet a local producer at a honey shop just steps from the Bratislava Opera House. The honey and mead come from a small family-run beekeeping and mead factory in Dolná Krupá, near Trnava, about 60 km from Bratislava.
The shopkeeper guides you through a tasting of four local honey varieties: creamed honey, honey with bee pollen, honey with propolis, and honey with cinnamon. Following the honey tasting, you sample two types of Trnava mead, an alcoholic beverage (10-14% alcohol) made from selected Slovak flower honey blended with herbs and spices.
This mead has won gold medals at both the Apimondia and Mazer Cup competitions. Slovaks enjoy it cold (12-16°C) in summer and warmed (55-60°C) in winter.
After the tasting, you receive a stylish souvenir pack including:
- 250g flower honey
- 0.18l bottle of mead
- Slovak herb or fruit tea pack
