Description

This full-day tour begins at Červený Kameň Castle in the Small Carpathians, a well-preserved Renaissance fortress near the town of Častá. The castle is known for its extensive underground cellars, original noble furnishings, hunting trophies, and historical armor. Visitors can explore peaceful courtyards and the surrounding park to get a sense of aristocratic life.

Next, travel to Beckov Castle, a romantic ruin perched on a steep cliff above the village of Beckov. Originally built as a 12th-century frontier fort, it later became a noble residence. The castle offers commanding views over the river and hills. Note that from November to April, Smolenice Castle replaces Beckov Castle on the itinerary due to the off-season.

The tour continues to Trenčín Castle, one of Slovakia’s largest and most important castles. Located above Trenčín town, it features courtyards, a museum, a gothic chapel, and the notable Matúš Tower. The castle was once the residence of Matúš Čák, a powerful medieval nobleman.

Leaving the castles behind, the route includes the village of Čičmany, famous for its traditional wooden houses decorated with white geometric patterns. These motifs reflect Slovak folk heritage and craftsmanship. Walking through Čičmany’s streets and visiting local museums provides insight into regional traditions.

In Rajecká Lesná, visit the Slovak Bethlehem, an extensive wooden nativity scene measuring over eight meters with around 300 hand-carved figures, many animated. This exhibit tells the story of the Nativity alongside representations of Slovak life, showcasing centuries of cultural heritage.

The day concludes in Bratislava at Bratislava Castle, a historic fortress overlooking the Danube River and city skyline. From here, enjoy wide views of the old town, the Danube, and distant Austrian Alps. The tour also includes a small surprise gift as a keepsake.
