Description

Begin with hotel pickup in Budapest. Travel past the ruins of the Roman city Acquincum before arriving in Szentendre, known for its narrow streets, colorful houses, and 'Umbrella Street.' Explore local shops and galleries, including the Szamos Marzipan Manufacture and Museum.

Next, visit Visegrád to see its medieval castle and panoramic views of the Danube Bend. Note that from January 12 to February 28, the castle is open only on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. The nearby Pilis Biosphere Reserve features diverse vegetation, creeks, waterfalls, and trout-filled lakes. There is a forest restaurant serving local trout and game (closed Tuesdays and Wednesdays), with other lunch options available.

In Esztergom, visit the Esztergom Basilica, Hungary’s largest church, with a massive dome and significant historical importance as the Catholic Church seat. Adjacent is the Royal Castle, once the seat of Hungarian kings. From Esztergom, cross the border into Slovakia (no formal border check, but carry ID).
