Description

We will meet near Ganymede’s Fountain, located in front of the historic Slovak National Theatre. From there, we will set off to explore the heart of the Old Town. As we stroll through the cobbled streets of this once free royal town, our guide will share many fascinating details and stories along the way, so be prepared for plenty of surprises! We will first admire the Main Square with its Old Town Hall and Maximilian's Fountain, followed by the Primate’s Palace, St. Michael’s Gate, and the Corso, lined with the noble palaces of aristocrats. This street leads to the majestic St. Martin’s Cathedral, the former coronation church of Hungarian kings. After about an hour of leisurely walking, we will arrive at a picturesque tree-lined promenade. Here, we will encounter famous characters from Hans Christian Andersen's timeless stories. From there, those interested can continue to explore the jewel of Art Nouveau and Hungary's answer to Gaudí: the Blue Church, located just a 10-minute walk away. The church is adorned with stunning glazed tiles and associated with two notable Elisabeths; we will share their story. After admiring the church's unique beauty, our tour will come to an end, but those interested can choose to continue on to the nearby EUROVEA Danube promenade, with our guide showing you the way. This vibrant location is the perfect spot for dinner or a drink, offering a wonderful ambience where you can enjoy a meal while overlooking the river. Please note that the itinerary may be subject to change due to circumstances beyond our control and for safety reasons. While there is an optional extension to the Blue Church available, the main itinerary is thoughtfully crafted to provide a fulfilling experience on its own. This makes it an ideal choice for those seeking a shorter journey while still wishing to enjoy a memorable experience. The Blue Church is open to the public only during a very short time slot each day; therefore, visits to the church's interior are only included on tours starting at 16:00. Thank you for your understanding.
