From there, head to Beckov Castle, a romantic ruin standing boldly on a steep cliff above the village of Beckov. Though partially in ruins, the site impresses with its commanding position and storied past. Built as a frontier fort in the 12th century, Beckov became a noble residence under the Stibor family. Today, the castle hosts seasonal events and exhibitions. The view from its walls over the river and hills adds to the feeling of stepping back into another era.
