Since 1535 thermal spa became property of free royal city of Kremnica, it was until year 1949. Importance of spa increased step by step. Spa became popular among nobility not only from Hungary but also from Poland, Austria and Transylvania.
One of the most important visitor was the king and emperor Maximilian I Habsburg and Count Ferenc Wesselényi de Hadad et Murány. The proof positive effect of water to women was beautiful countess Maria Széchy. For her extraordinary beauty, irresistible for men she was called Venus from Murány.
