Ružomberok

The town of Ružomberok is situated on the confluence of the rivers Váh and Revúca in the western part of Liptov basin on the landmark of Slovak mountain ranges - Veľká Fatra, the Choč Mountains and the Low Tatras (Nízke Tatry).

Ružomberok offers many places of interest. Go up the stairs to Town Hall and directly beneath the town centre you can see the Mausoleum of Andrej Hlinka, the Roman Catholic St. Andrew's Church, the Gallery of Ľudovít Fulla, Museum of Liptov, restaurants, cafes, entertainment and the shopping centre.

For lovers of art galleries and museums the town offers Museum of Liptov with a permanent exhibition of photographs, exhibits and artifacts from the Region of Liptov, the Museum of Scouting, the Gallery of Ľudovít Fulla - one of the extraordinary Slovak artists.

After urban sightseeing you can get to nature in a while. Journey to the east will take you to water dam Liptovská mara and Thermalpark Bešeňová. The road to the south leads to the wooden village Vlkolínec - a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the way to the west will take you to Ski Park Malinô Brdo and finally, the road to the north will direct you to the ruins of the Castle Likava and to the Choč Hills.
