The village of Budmerice, situated below the mountains of Malé Karpaty (Small Carpathians) in western Slovakia, has a long history. There is a wonderful castle built by the Pálffy family.
Ján Pálffy built the castle in 1889 in the romanticizing style. Its architecture contains a set of elements chosen from several historic styles. The main facade of the castle ends in a tall tower with a coat of arms.
The castle now serving as the home of the Slovak writers (there are many uncertainties though...) stands in a large English park.
