The glass-producing manufacture was founded in 1892.
The local Slovenské sklárske múzeum (Slovak Museum of Glass) is worth visiting. It seats in the reconstructed residence of the former owner of factory, the Renaissance manor house. Collections of the Museum document the development of this craft in Slovakia from the oldest times until present.
A large park with several exotic wood species surrounds the manor.
