Mirbach Palace

The Rococo Mirbach Palace was built in 1768-1770 by Bratislava brewer Michael Spech. Its last private owner, Emil Mirbach, left the palace to the city with the wish that the building shall become a home to the City Gallery. This wish was granted and now the palace houses a permanent exhibition of Central European Baroque paintings and statuary, as well as a space for short-term exhibitions.

The palace's courtyard fountain is decorated with a sculpture, Triton and Nymph by Viktor Tilgner, depicting a woman on the shoulders of a mighty half-snake half-man.
